The short version

We rent party buses, limousines, Sprinters and shuttles by the hour in San Antonio. Groups get dropped at street level for the River Walk, the Pearl and Southtown, and driven out to Frost Bank Center, the Alamodome and the Hill Country towns. Weekend nights need four hours, April Saturdays need six, and the quote already covers driver, fuel, taxes and gratuity.

San Antonio celebrates in places a car handles badly. The river sits a full story beneath the street. Fiesta shuts half the downtown grid for an afternoon. The arena on the East Side has one real way in and one real way out. And the tasting rooms everybody wants are an hour up I-10. We run party buses, limousines, Sprinters and shuttles across the city, and what follows is organized around the nights people here actually book — with the local details that decide whether yours runs on time.

Your table is downstairs. The bus stays upstairs.

Plenty of first-time planners picture the bus rolling up beside the water. It can't. The River Walk runs roughly one level below downtown, reached by stairs and a handful of elevators, and the streets above it — Commerce, Market, Losoya, Crockett — are narrow, partly one-way, and thick with hotel valet traffic.

What works instead is a named corner at street level. We'll pick one near whichever stair access serves your restaurant, confirm it with you beforehand, and use that same corner for the pickup so nobody's wandering the wrong bridge at eleven at night. If someone in your group uses a wheelchair or can't do stairs, say so early — the elevators are spread well apart, and that should decide the drop point rather than the other way around.

One more thing worth building into your hours: a River Walk dinner for a big party runs long. Two hours at the table is realistic, plus ten or fifteen minutes on each end just to move twenty people down to the river and back up again.

Where locals go when they skip the river

People who live here spread out more than visitors do, and a good evening usually links two of these.

  • The Pearl. The old brewery complex north of downtown is the city's dining anchor, and its inner streets are built for walking, so drop-offs happen on the perimeter. Saturday farmers market mornings slow daytime access noticeably.
  • Southtown. South Alamo and South St. Mary's through King William and around the Blue Star Arts Complex — restaurants, patios, galleries. The streets are residential in scale, which makes a shorter vehicle much easier to work with.
  • The St. Mary's Strip. Up near Trinity University, this is the live-music and dive-bar stretch, and it's ideal for a bar crawl with one drop and one pickup rather than a dozen little hops.
  • The Rim and La Cantera. Out northwest off I-10 and Loop 1604, where a lot of Stone Oak, Helotes and Boerne groups start or end a night without touching downtown at all.

Pearl to Southtown is about ten minutes. Downtown to La Cantera is 25 minutes clear and closer to 45 at rush hour. Crossing the city twice in one evening quietly consumes more of a four-hour booking than most people budget for.

What groups tend to book, and how we'd size yours

We don't have San Antonio-specific numbers, and we're not going to invent any. The figures we publish come from a set of inquiries across the Houston region, and they're useful here only as a general picture of how groups plan. Across those analyzed inquiries, about 72% of the ones with a quoted vehicle mentioned a party bus and about 16% mentioned a limousine. A single inquiry can name both, so those shares overlap rather than adding up.

It does match the calls we take here. Most people start with a bus in their head, and the ones who land on a limousine are usually small, seated and dressed up. Roughly how we'd pair a vehicle to a plan:

PlanGroupWhat we'd look at first
Anniversary dinner at the Pearl6–1010-passenger Lincoln limo
Quinceañera court and photos12–1614-passenger limousine
Birthday night, Southtown to the Strip15–2220-passenger party bus
Spurs game with coworkers22–3030-passenger party bus
Wedding guests, hotel to venue35–5556-passenger charter coach

For eleven days in April, none of the usual rules apply

Fiesta San Antonio runs about a week and a half in late April, and it's the one stretch where the entire city is trying to book at once. The Battle of Flowers Parade on Friday and the Fiesta Flambeau night parade on Saturday close Broadway and much of the downtown grid for hours at a time. A Night in Old San Antonio packs La Villita four evenings running, and events like the Oyster Bake draw crowds to the other side of town.

Three things shape a Fiesta ride:

  1. Drop-offs move outward. On parade days we set down several blocks off the route, outside the closure perimeter, and the walk is simply part of the plan. That year's dates and route live on the official Fiesta San Antonio schedule.
  2. Saturdays are six hours. Saturdays in March, April, and May run on a six-hour minimum, and Fiesta Saturdays sit squarely inside that window. Friday nights stay at four.
  3. Medals and sashes, yes. Confetti, no. Cascarones are a lovely tradition and they're the one thing that can't happen on board — confetti and glitter never come out of upholstery. Crack them at the party.

Because prom season overlaps Fiesta, the mid-size buses go first. If your date is already fixed, our guide on how early to book explains why a quote by itself doesn't hold anything. A signed contract and the 50% deposit do.

Spurs nights, the dome, and February at the Stock Show

Frost Bank Center. The Spurs' arena sits on the East Side next to Freeman Coliseum, and everything funnels onto a few streets off I-35 and I-10. Getting in is easy; getting out is the part that costs you. We'll agree on a pickup spot and a time — usually 15 to 20 minutes after the final buzzer, once the first wave of cars has drained. The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo takes over the same grounds each February, with bigger crowds and a longer walk.

The Alamodome. UTSA football, the Alamo Bowl just after Christmas, and the big concerts all use the dome east of I-37. It's close enough to downtown hotels that some groups just walk, but for anyone coming in off Loop 1604 or from New Braunfels, one vehicle beats four cars fighting for lot space. Our sporting events page covers staging and post-event pickups in more depth.

Either venue, four hours generally covers dinner, the event and the ride home. Across the inquiries we've analyzed, about 53% of those with a requested duration asked for three to four hours — which is exactly the shape of a one-venue night.

Quinceañeras, weddings, and the days families plan for years

Few cities do quinceañeras on the scale San Antonio does, and the transportation always has the same three beats: Mass, photos, reception. San Fernando Cathedral and Main Plaza, the Japanese Tea Garden in Brackenridge Park, and the grounds at Mission San José come up again and again as backdrops. Some sites want a photography permit for a formal session, so it's worth a call to the site before the day. Our quinceañera page gets into seating a court of fourteen in formalwear and what changes when most of your passengers are minors. Short version: with no parent or legal guardian aboard, the ride is completely alcohol-free.

Weddings here often split between a downtown church or a mission and a reception out in the Hill Country, which means a real transfer for your guests. Forward-facing seats are much kinder than perimeter benches over forty minutes. The wedding party bus page explains how we pair a coach for the guest list with something smaller for the couple.

Hill Country days are closer than they sound

The northern edge of the city is already the beginning of the Hill Country, which makes these day trips shorter than people expect.

DestinationFrom Loop 1604Good for
BoerneAbout 25 minutes on I-10Main Street lunch, breweries, a half-day outing
Gruene and New BraunfelsAbout 35–40 minutes on I-35Gruene Hall, a river-town afternoon, dinner

A Fredericksburg wine day turns into an eight-hour booking once you count tastings and lunch, and the wineries will want reservations for a group your size. Any route that carries the vehicle beyond about an hour's drive from our base is quoted with the extra drive time included, so the full number is in front of you before you commit to anything. The planner below will tell you whether your list of stops actually fits the hours you had in mind.

Minimums, money, and the paperwork

One number covers the whole thing: vehicle, professional driver, fuel, local mileage, taxes, the driver's gratuity, as many stops as your hours allow, and ice and bottled water on party buses and limousines. Friday and Saturday nights run a four-hour minimum. Sunday through Thursday, plus some daytime bookings, can come down to three. The balance lands 7 to 14 days ahead, and whoever signs needs to be 21 or older.

There's no printed rate, because your date, your hours and your vehicle set the figure. Our cost guide walks through what moves it — bearing in mind its historical numbers come from the Houston-region record rather than from here.

Going further up the road? Austin is 80 miles north on I-35, and the Texas long-distance guide covers Houston and Dallas runs, including the point where a second driver comes into it.

San Antonio party bus FAQs

Still deciding on hours, vehicle size, or a route? Call or text (281) 549-2511 · Text us and we will talk it through.

Can you drop us right at our River Walk restaurant?

Not at the door — the river runs below street level and there's no vehicle access down there. We'll drop at a street-level corner by the stairs or elevator nearest your restaurant, then come back to that same corner. Give a large group ten to fifteen minutes each direction between the curb and the table.

What does Fiesta do to availability?

It's the busiest stretch of the year here, and it overlaps prom season, so the 15- to 30-passenger vehicles get claimed early. Parade days also close downtown streets, which pushes drop-offs several blocks out from the route. And Fiesta Saturdays fall under the six-hour Saturday minimum that runs through March, April and May.

Can we bring cascarones on board?

That's the one we have to say no to. They're full of confetti, and confetti and glitter can't be cleaned out of upholstery once they're in it. Bring them in a sealed bag and crack them when you arrive. Sashes, medals, flower crowns and balloons are all fine.

Where do you pick up after a Spurs game?

Somewhere you and the driver agree on before tipoff, usually timed 15 to 20 minutes after the final buzzer. The streets around the arena clear in waves, and leaving with the first one mostly means sitting in it. Settle the exact corner before your group walks in, and pick one person as the contact.

Can minors ride for a quinceañera?

They can — there's no minimum age to ride, only to sign, and the signer has to be 21 or older. When the court rides without a parent or legal guardian aboard, the trip is completely alcohol-free and the driver is the one holding that line. With a parent riding, adults 21 and over may bring their own drinks in cans or plastic.

How long is a Fredericksburg wine day?

Around eight hours, realistically. It's 75 to 90 minutes each way, three tastings run roughly an hour apiece, and everyone will want lunch on Main Street or at one of the wineries. Book the tasting reservations before you lock in a pickup time — Saturday slots for large groups go first.

Is a bus overkill for dinner at the Pearl?

Not for eight or more, and it's really about parking and the ride home rather than the dinner. The Pearl's interior is built for walking, so the vehicle drops on the perimeter and returns at a set hour. Smaller groups often prefer a stretch limousine here, since it's a seated, dressed-up evening with one destination.

Do you take groups from here to Austin or Houston?

We do. Austin is about 80 miles and normally 75 to 90 minutes on I-35; Houston is about 200 miles on I-10. Longer runs are quoted with the distance included, and any itinerary that keeps a driver on duty past roughly 12 hours needs a second driver or an overnight stay — priced up front, never sprung on you later.
