The short version

A League City party bus is booked by the hour, with a four-hour minimum on Friday and Saturday nights and six hours on Saturdays in March, April, and May. Kemah Boardwalk is 10 to 15 minutes away, Galveston's Strand about 30, and Downtown Houston 35 to 50 on a weekend evening. Quotes include driver, fuel, local mileage, taxes, gratuity, and unlimited stops.

From the FM 518 exit on I-45, the same on-ramp points at three different nights. Ten minutes east is the Boardwalk. Thirty minutes south is the Strand. Forty-five minutes north, on a good evening, is Midtown. Living halfway down the freeway is a blessing right up until the night you have to pick.

With a driver, you don't have to pick just one. What you do have to be clear-eyed about is the clock, because those three directions cost wildly different amounts of your evening. So let's start there, then get to weddings, Clear Creek ISD dances, and what happens at your curb.

What each direction actually costs you

The northbound run is the one that catches people. I-45 through Webster, past Ellington and into the Beltway interchange can stretch forty minutes into sixty on a Friday, and a four-hour Saturday block aimed at Midtown leaves you roughly two hours of actual night. Don't take our word for it — list the stops and look at the block.

One thing on mileage: the miles close to home are already inside the price, while a route that runs more than about an hour's drive from our base gets priced as a longer trip with that extra drive time counted in. Tell us every stop and the number you get back covers the whole route, with no second conversation later.

Ten minutes to the Boardwalk

Kemah Boardwalk is your short trip — rides, waterfront restaurants, and a crowd most weekend nights from spring through fall. It's near enough that a three- or four-hour block is almost entirely Boardwalk and almost no highway, which is a rare thing in this region.

A few realities of arriving by bus. Those lots are paid and packed, and a 30-foot vehicle isn't going to occupy one for three hours, so the driver drops at the closest safe point and stages somewhere sensible. On a summer Saturday the last stretch on FM 2094 and Highway 146 crawls, so give it ten extra minutes. And early in the evening the Boardwalk is full of families, so whatever's on the bus stays on the bus — open containers don't come ashore.

Kemah first, or the island first

League City is the obvious base for a night that wants two personalities: dinner and drinks on the water in Kemah, then south to the Strand and Postoffice Street for the bars. Run it backwards if you'd rather — an afternoon on the island, then a Kemah patio at the end.

Across the Houston-region inquiries we've analyzed in our Houston inquiry data, about 5% of those with an event type were for a bachelor party, and nearly every one of them is a multi-stop night where the order of the route matters more than which bus you picked. No League City-only figures exist on our side, but a Kemah-to-Strand night is exactly that species of plan.

A group of 18 usually ends up with something close to this:

  1. 4:00 PM pickup at a rental house or hotel in League City.
  2. 4:30 PM first stop at a Kemah waterfront bar.
  3. 6:30 PM dinner on the Boardwalk.
  4. 8:30 PM south on I-45 to the Strand.
  5. 11:30 PM back to League City, with a late food stop on the way. No food on board.

That's a seven-hour night, and depending on the route, the Galveston leg may be quoted as long-distance. Our bachelor party page, bachelorette party page and the bachelorette planning guide have more route ideas than we can fit here.

As a rough guide, about 72% of the inquiries in our data with a quoted vehicle mentioned a party bus, and among historical party bus quotes, about 44% fell between $1,000 and $1,499. Region-wide history, not today's prices — a seven-hour Saturday lands where your date and vehicle put it.

Getting your guests to the reception and back

For a city this size, there's a lot of wedding here. Butler's Courtyard in the historic district near Main Street does ceremonies and receptions under old live oaks. South Shore Harbour Resort, over on Clear Lake by the marina, is both a venue and where most of your out-of-town guests will end up staying. And the churches along Main Street and FM 518 handle plenty of ceremonies for couples whose reception is somewhere else entirely.

Three patterns come up again and again. When guests are at the resort and the reception is across town, a 24-passenger shuttle bus looping between the two keeps everyone off the road after the toasts, which is the whole point. When it's photos, a 26-passenger party bus carries the wedding party and the photographer between the historic district, the marina and the Kemah waterfront without anyone rearranging cars in heels. And when the ceremony is on Galveston but the rooms are up here — which is often, because rooms are easier here — each leg is 30 to 40 minutes, so you want a bigger vehicle and fewer loops rather than the other way around.

Our wedding page explains putting two vehicles on one contract, and the rehearsal dinner page covers the night before.

Three high schools, a handful of Saturdays

Clear Creek, Clear Falls and Clear Springs are all League City campuses and all Clear Creek ISD, along with Clear Brook, Clear Lake and Clear Horizons nearby. That's a lot of proms drawing on a very small number of spring Saturdays, and the mid-size buses are spoken for first. Parents who call in January get the bus they pictured.

What parents here should know: from March through May, a Saturday booking starts at six hours, full stop. The contract belongs to an adult who's at least 21, with students riding as passengers rather than signers. Nobody under 21 is drinking on board unless a parent or legal guardian is riding, and big backpacks stay home. And the seat count is the seat count — there's no room for one more date at the curb, however the conversation goes.

Around here the night usually runs photos at the marina or under the oaks downtown, dinner in Kemah or somewhere on the Bay, then the dance. The prom page has the whole timeline.

Your street, your gate, your cul-de-sac

The city has grown fast, and the pickup plan follows the neighborhood.

South Shore Harbour. Golf-course and marina streets, mostly generous. Some sections are gated, so get the driver on the visitor list.

Tuscan Lakes and the gated enclaves. Guardhouse or keypad, plus landscaped islands in the cul-de-sacs. A mid-size bus generally makes the turn; the biggest may load at the entrance.

Victory Lakes, Westover Park, Brittany Lakes and Magnolia Creek. Open streets — the problem is guests parking on both curbs during a party. Keep the space in front of the pickup house clear.

The historic district. Narrower streets and those beautiful old oaks, which is exactly the clearance issue for anything tall.

West of I-45. The newer subdivisions toward FM 646 and the Dickinson line have narrow lots, where one gathering house buys back real time on a busy Saturday.

Neighbors in Webster, Clear Lake and Friendswood book on identical terms.

What holding the date involves

Half the quote reserves the vehicle, the rest is settled a week or two before you ride, and that's the whole arrangement. Driver, fuel, local mileage, taxes, gratuity, as many stops as you want inside your hours, plus ice and bottled water — all of it is already counted. Anyone 21 and up brings their own in cans or plastic, and it stays aboard. No food, glitter, confetti or smoking. If the night runs long and the vehicle is free to stay, overtime begins once a 15-minute grace period has passed.

Want a number for your date?

Send the date, headcount, pickup area, and hours. The quote you get back already includes the driver, fuel, tax, and gratuity.

League City party bus FAQs

Still deciding on hours, vehicle size, or a route? Call or text (281) 549-2511 · Text us and we will talk it through.

How long is the ride from League City to the Kemah Boardwalk?

Ten to fifteen minutes from the middle of town, plus a bit on a summer Saturday when the last stretch in slows to a crawl. The driver drops as close to the Boardwalk as is safe and then stages nearby, since no bus is holding a spot in those paid lots all evening.

Can we do Kemah and the Galveston Strand in one night?

You can, and it's one of the most-requested plans we get from here. Give it six to seven hours so the drive south, the bars and the ride home all fit without watching the clock. Whether the island leg is long-distance comes down to how far the route takes the vehicle from our base, so name both stops when you ask.

Which League City high schools do you drive for prom?

Clear Creek, Clear Falls and Clear Springs, plus the other Clear Creek ISD campuses close by. Spring Saturdays run six hours or more. An adult's name goes on the contract, and students ride alcohol-free unless a parent or guardian is along for the evening.

Can a shuttle run between South Shore Harbour Resort and a wedding venue?

Yes. A shuttle can loop between the resort and a League City or Kemah venue before the ceremony and again after the reception. If the venue is on Galveston, go bigger and run fewer loops, because each leg is 30 to 40 minutes and the loops add up fast.

Will the driver get into Tuscan Lakes?

Yes, provided we're on the visitor list. Send the gate instructions or add the company name the day before along with your pickup window. If a bigger bus can't clear your cul-de-sac, the driver loads at the entrance to the street instead of blocking it.

How long does it take to get from League City to Midtown on a Friday?

Give it 45 minutes to an hour. Northbound I-45 drags from Webster through the Beltway interchange on a Friday evening. Coming home after midnight is closer to 30. For a Midtown night, five hours is the realistic floor, not four.

Can we bring drinks onto the Boardwalk from the bus?

No — drinks stay on the vehicle. Guests 21 and older can bring their own in cans or plastic for the ride, and there's ice and bottled water waiting for you. Once you step off, you're on the Boardwalk's rules and the local open-container rules.

Is a party bus a good choice for a League City cruise departure?

If everyone's sailing together, a shuttle or coach with real luggage space serves you better — a party bus doesn't have anywhere to put a dozen suitcases. The Galveston terminals are 30 to 40 minutes out, and we'll set the pickup against your boarding window.
