The short version

The invitations went out three weeks ago with a brunch address and an 11:00 start, and the replies have been landing since: the bride's grandmother, yes; the groom's mother, yes, and she has met almost nobody; two aunts; six bridesmaids who have already picked their outfits. The job in front of you now is getting all of them to the same table, at the same time, in a good mood.
That's what the ride is for. A shower is often the first afternoon the two families spend together, and how everyone arrives sets the tone for it. Here's how to plan transportation that works for the whole list, not only the bridesmaids.
When the riders range from twenty-five to eighty
Almost every question a shower host asks us traces back to that one detail. It shapes the vehicle more than the guest count does.
A party bus has perimeter seating, an LED ceiling, and a step or two at the door. The bridesmaids will love it. A grandmother with a cane may feel differently about that step. A stretch limousine sits lower, which helps. What really suits a mixed-age shower is a vehicle that's easy to climb into and laid out so the older guests can sit together and hear each other talk.
A few things worth thinking about before the day:
- Older guests do better boarding first, before the bridesmaids fill the seats nearest the door.
- The music is yours to choose, but conversation level is the right setting here — just tell the driver at the start, and that's handled.
- One simple pickup beats four scattered ones. A hotel lobby or the host's driveway spares relatives who don't know the city.

Sizing the vehicle to the people who'll actually ride
Shower guest lists run longer than bachelorette ones, because family is on them. Not everybody rides, though. The riders are generally the bride, the bridal party, both mothers, and a handful of aunts and grandmothers.

Nothing in that set is specific to bridal showers, and we won't suggest otherwise — but a party of bridesmaids and close family tends to land in the same band. It's the size the 18- to 22-passenger buses are built around, and it's why those particular buses go first on weekend dates.
One small thing to keep in mind as the list shifts: capacity ratings are firm, so it's worth counting again before the final payment if anyone has been added.

No two are the same, but most of them rhyme with one of these.
Tea or brunch, then home
The simplest version. A pickup at the host's house or a hotel, two hours over brunch or afternoon tea, and the ride home. Three or four hours covers it comfortably, and it suits a shower where family makes up most of the guest list.
Brunch and something to do after
Brunch in the Heights, then a class — flower arranging, cookie decorating — or an afternoon at a spa. The vehicle waits at each stop. Four to five hours holds it, and the second activity gives the two families far more time to talk than a single meal ever does.
A couples' shower
Some couples would rather do it this way. Both halves of the couple, both sets of friends, sometimes both sets of parents. Bigger, mixed, and often running into the evening, which makes a 22-passenger party bus or something larger the natural choice. The evening rules below are worth reading before you settle the date.

Showers tend to sit four to eight weeks ahead of the wedding, and a great many Houston weddings happen in late spring. The arithmetic puts a lot of showers into March, April, and May.
Which matters, because every Saturday in those three months carries a six-hour minimum, driven by prom season. It applies to every kind of trip, so a three-hour tea on a spring Saturday is still a six-hour booking. Hosts solve it one of three ways.
- Move the shower to a Sunday, where three hours is often possible.
- Keep the Saturday and build a fuller day into the six hours — brunch, an activity, a quiet dinner.
- Hold it on a Saturday in February or June, where the ordinary rules apply.
Outside that spring window, Friday and Saturday nights run on a four-hour minimum, and Sunday through Thursday, along with some daytime slots, can book at three.

Mimosas, ribbons, and where the gifts go
Guests 21 and over are welcome to bring their own drinks. We don't sell alcohol, and the bar comes stocked with ice and bottled water. Glass isn't allowed on board, so mimosas work best made with canned sparkling wine and plastic flutes, or mixed into a plastic pitcher before pickup. If a flower girl or young cousin is riding, alcohol is only allowed with a parent or guardian aboard — otherwise the vehicle is dry, and the driver takes care of that so you don't have to.
Decorating is encouraged. A bride-to-be sash, ribbons in the wedding colors, a banner hung with clips — all fine. Food doesn't come on the bus, so the cake stays at the venue. Gifts ride home on empty seats, or go with the host.

What it costs, and who tends to pick it up
We don't publish rates, because the date, the hours, and the vehicle decide them. For context, about 44% of historical party bus quotes in our records fell between $1,000 and $1,499, and about 36% came in under $1,000 — mostly smaller buses, shorter blocks, and weekdays. Those are past quotes, not today's prices.
Whatever your number turns out to be, it's the whole number. Vehicle, driver, fuel, local mileage, taxes, and gratuity are all inside it. A 50% deposit reserves the date, the balance is due 7 to 14 days before, and whoever signs needs to be 21 or older. Tradition puts that in the hands of the host — a mother, an aunt, the maid of honor. When the bridal party splits the cost between them, the bride is nearly always treated as a guest.
